Feathercraft Folding Kayaks
I’m going slightly off-topic here, but I do love a good kayak. After college I worked in publishing, which was a wonderful financial decision. To support my socializing-in-nyc habit I needed a second job. On the day that I was going to accept hours at Patagucci SoHo I was offered a job at New York Kayak Company. I stayed on for nights and weekends until years later, even after the second job wasn’t monetarily necessary. It gave me a break from the city, both on the water and in the store (first in a Chelsea loft, then to its present location on Pier 40).
Being a kayak store in Manhattan it made sense to carry folding kayaks. When not actually working, my hours at the store were mainly spent daydreaming at the Feathercrafts hanging on display. The Khatsalano still has better lines than most hardshells that I’ve seen. Personally? I’d “settle” for a Wisper. That these can be checked as baggage, thrown in the back of a rental, and then set up – anywhere – within an hour still amazes me. Some. Day.
